Job Title: Lab Technician
Location: Bolton College
Term: Temporary, expected to run for the full academic year
Hours: 2 days per week — Thursday and Friday
Pay Rate: £14.24 per hour inclusive of holiday pay
Start Date: September 2026

Position Overview

Bolton College and Bolton Talent Solutions are seeking a reliable and organised Lab Technician to support the smooth running of science practical lessons on a temporary basis for the full academic year.

The successful candidate will assist with the preparation, organisation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, chemicals and resources, ensuring practical sessions are set up safely and efficiently. You will work closely with teaching staff to support high-quality learning experiences for students across Science courses.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up equipment, chemicals and materials for science practical lessons
• Clear away, clean and safely store equipment following practical sessions
• Maintain clean, safe and well-organised laboratory and preparation areas
• Assist teaching staff with practical demonstrations and learning resources where required

Key Requirements

• Science degree or relevant science qualification
• Desirable: IOSH / IOSHH or relevant health and safety training
• Desirable: Previous experience working in a school, college or educational laboratory setting
